Individual therapy
I am a clinical psychologist (Psy.D.) who provides psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. I focus on empirically validated treatments that science demonstrates work. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the treatment of eating disorders.
Eating Disorders Treatment
I have special interest and expertise in the treatment of adult and adolescent eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Body image issues, and weight management. My approach to working with eating disorders is based on empirically validated treatments. I provide CBT to adults and older adolescents with eating disorders and family based therapy (Maudsley model) to adolescents with eating disorders. A course of CBT for bulimia is usually about 20 sessions. Family based therapy (FBT) usually consists of 20 treatment sessions over a course of 6 to 12 months.

Family Based Therapy for Anorexia and Bulimia (Maudsley)
For adolescents with anorexia, a well-validated treatment is Family-Based Treatment (FBT or Maudsley Approach). I attended a workshop by Dr. James Lock in 2010 to further my knowledge of and training in this effective treatment. I am currently working towards certification in FBT with supervision by Dr. Fitzpatrick at Stanford University.
Parenting
For parents I offer coaching in basic behavior modification and “Love and Logic Parenting.” This is a parent training program that helps children become independent and responsible by becoming accountable for and learning from their mistakes.
Couples counseling
I have experience helping couples to rebuild and improve relationships and to cope with issues related to infidelity. For couples I provide counseling that is based in cognitive behavioral therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT).
Signs of Suicide
Signs Of Suicide (SOS) Middle and High School Suicide Prevention Program Teen Suicide, Self-Injury, and Depression using the SAMSA endorsed Signs of Suicide (SOS). A widely studied, evidence-based program, SOS is the first suicide prevention program to be selected by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Adminstration (SAMHSA) for its Registry of Effective Programs. It is the only school-based suicide prevention program that has been shown to reduce suicidality in a randomized, controlled study American Journal of Public Health, March 2004 . I have delivered this program to middle and high school students.
Expatriation and Repatriation Counseling
Going on an expatriate assignment can be stressful for all family members. I have personal experience as an expatriate in China. While living in Shanghai I worked with clients from all over the world who were facing issues related to expatriation and acculturation. I am available to provide support before, during, or after such a move.
